Ranbir Kapoor on TIME 100 list from Bollywood

It feels as though we have finally come full circle, as Ranbir Kapoor has been named among TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2026, and he is the only actor from Bollywood who made this year’s global list.

TIME Magazine’s annual 100 list is recognized around the world as a benchmark for recognition and accomplishment; those who have been named to this list are clearly shaping our culture, ideas, and conversation across the globe, regardless of what industry they represent. Whether you are a world leader, an innovator, or a performer, influence is measured by one’s impact, not by his or her fame. For this reason, Kapoor’s inclusion on this list represents more than just an accomplishment; it is indicative of the continued evolution of Bollywood’s standing on the world stage.

What makes Kapoor’s selection particularly compelling is the very nature of the type of actor he has always been. In an industry that tends to thrive on flash and noise, Ranbir’s success has been based on the ability to convey subtlety and intricacy, whether through his emotionally raw portrayals of people or his easy transitions from complex characters to more traditional commercial roles; the actor has consistently encouraged audiences to experience his performances rather than simply viewing them.

In fact, actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who penned Kapoor’s TIME profile, highlighted how he “shifts our emotional vocabulary” as viewers, an observation that captures his artistic impact perfectly. “There are actors who chase legacy and there are actors who become one through their craft. Ranbir Kapoor is the latter,” Ayushmann wrote.

Kapoor’s career has produced a number of films that straddle popular cinema and critical acclaim through the years. Whether it is the passion of Rockstar, the charm of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, or the phenomenal box office success of Animal, he continues to surprise his audience, and therein lies his strength.

However, his award from TIME indicates another important milestone in Kapoor’s trajectory. With his upcoming ambitious projects like Ramayana in his kitty, where he is set to play the role of Lord Rama, he is set to step into narratives that carry cultural weight on a global scale.

With that in mind, Kapoor, along with other high-profile Indian celebrities on the TIME 100, including Sundar Pichai (CEO of Google) and Vikas Khanna (chef), is emblematic of India’s increasing impact in technology, cinema, and cuisine.

What sets Ranbir Kapoor apart, though, is his almost paradoxical stardom. He is a global name without the usual noise of aggressive PR machinery and constant social media presence. Just craft, consistency, and an ability to connect.

Ranbir Kapoor’s inclusion on TIME’s list is, therefore, not just a victory for the man himself, but it’s a quiet and powerful nod to the changing face of Bollywood on the world stage.
