From TV to the big screen? Ekta Kapoor hints at a ‘Naagin’ movie
The well-known Naagin franchise seems to be on its way to becoming a more improved version, shifting from TV to cinema.
On Nag Panchami’s celebration, producer Ekta Kapoor has indicated about taking the Naagin franchise beyond the small screen, raising excitement in people about the possibility of Naagin film. The franchise which started in 2015 has become one of the most prominent supernatural shows on Indian television.
Ekta Kapoor teases a new chapter for ‘Naagin’
Though not many details are available about the film, Ekta’s announcement has created excitement that the Naagin universe is ready to go on the big screen. The series so far has run for seven seasons, with several television actresses playing the lead role in its journey.
The first season introduced audiences to Mouni Roy as Shivanya, a role that turned her into one of television’s most popular stars. Roy later returned for the second season as well. The Naagin role has been played by various actresses over the years, for example, Surbhi Jyoti, Nia Sharma, Surbhi Chandna, Tejasswi Prakash, etc. The current season has Priyanka Chahar Choudhary in the leading role.
Will Mouni Roy or Priyanka Chahar Choudhary be part of the film?
The doubt that arises here is if the film will see some of the most famous Naagins of the show come together at one special place.
Mouni Roy is very much a part of the franchise, as she played the character in two of the seasons, while Priyanka Chahar Choudhary is presently in the title role of Naagin 7. Mouni has wished Priyanka the best for the character by calling herself the “OG” while Priyanka states that Mouni is her inspiration.
However, there’s no word yet if any of the two actresses will star in or be a part of the film.
A bigger universe for ‘Naagin’?
The film might give Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms the chance of expanding the story and universe of Naagin. But for now, we have to wait and watch for more details about the cast and plot.
