Jammu and Kashmir is an Integral Part of India: US Ambassador Sergio Gor

Mumbai: US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, who is currently on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, stated on August 19 that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. The remarks came following his meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The statement coincides with ongoing reports of atrocities by the Pakistan Army against citizens in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where innocent lives have been lost, supply restrictions on essential goods have been imposed, and local residents have appealed to the international community for assistance.

Praising the region’s beauty, Ambassador Gor said, “It feels great to be here. This is an important and integral part of India. This is my first visit, and the place is extremely beautiful, so I am very excited to be here and see its beauty. We just had a very productive meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. There are a few matters to follow up on, which we will take forward to Washington and Delhi. Our discussion took place in a very good and friendly atmosphere, and we look forward to strengthening these relations further.”

What Did the Chief Minister Say?

Speaking on the meeting, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah noted that it was a very positive interaction: “We had the opportunity to discuss relations between both sides, focusing particularly on what the US can do for Jammu and Kashmir. Naturally, there are some long-standing issues that we will try to resolve over time, but we look forward to continuing this dialogue. We are very hopeful that in the coming years, the relationship between the US and Jammu and Kashmir will become stronger and broader.”
