Tragedy in Gadchiroli: 3 Schoolgirls Die of Snakebite at Residential Ashram School; 3 Others Injured

August 10, 2026: In a tragic incident at the Japatalai Residential Ashram School in Dhanora Taluka, Gadchiroli, three schoolgirls lost their lives and three others were injured following a snakebite incident during the late night hours. The deceased students have been identified as Deepika Lakda, Sushmita Mandal, and Anu Koreti.

The tragic event occurred around 2:00 AM to 2:30 AM while the students were asleep after dinner. Upon discovering the snakebites, school authorities rushed the affected girls to the nearest medical facilities.

Despite emergency medical care, Deepika Lakda (Class 6) and Sushmita Mandal (Class 8) succumbed to the venom during treatment at the Dhanora Rural Hospital. Shortly after, Anu Koreti (Class 2) passed away while undergoing treatment at the Gadchiroli District Hospital.

Three other students Deepika Madavi (Class 5), Kavita Kiranga (Class 6), and Samriddhi Naitam (Class 8) are currently undergoing treatment at the Gadchiroli District Hospital. Among them, Samriddhi Suresh Naitam remains in critical condition.
