State Examination Council Takes Major Decision; Police Register FIR

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Examination Council has postponed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) that was scheduled to be held across the state on Sunday, June 28, 2026, following suspicions of a question paper leak in Bhiwandi.
The examination was set to be conducted at 1,028 centres across Maharashtra, with thousands of candidates expected to appear. However, concerns over the integrity of the examination prompted the council to defer the test just a day before it was scheduled.
According to officials, police in Bhiwandi received confidential information early on Saturday indicating that certain individuals were in possession of details related to the TET question paper. Acting swiftly, the police conducted a raid and informed officials from the Maharashtra State Examination Council.
During verification, officials found that some of the questions recovered from the suspects matched those in the June 2026 TET question paper. Following the discovery, an FIR was registered at the Bhiwandi Police Station, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.
In view of the suspected leak and to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible examination process, the Maharashtra State Examination Council decided to postpone the examination until further notice.
The council has stated that a new examination date will be announced soon, and all updates regarding the rescheduled exam will be published on its official website. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official portal for the latest information.
