Did you know? Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan are related!

Although there is no blood connection between Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan, there is a family connection in an age-old industry. This was disclosed in the show Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, which left Saif stunned.

Saif was in the show together with Akshay Kumar to promote their movie Haiwaan. While talking to Saif, Amitabh pointed his finger at him and told him that many didn’t know that Saif is ‘humare rishte mein’. Saif got shocked.

Amitabh explained that his daughter, Shweta Bachchan, is married to Nikhil Nanda, who is the son of Ritu Nanda, who was the daughter of Raj Kapoor.

Here’s how Saif fits into the picture. Raj Kapoor is Kareena Kapoor Khan’s grandpa and Kareena is married to Saif Ali Khan. Nikhil Nanda is Kareena Kapoor’s first cousin, which indicates that the two families, the Bachchans and the Kapoors, are related to each other through marriage.

When the revelation was made Amitabh and Saif got involved in some fun banter. Amitabh jokingly wondered what Kareena should call him now that her family and his family are connected.

Saif, maintaining his usual deadpan humour said, “Thank God it’s not a question” leaving Amitabh simply in splits.

The moment also reflects on just how intertwined the biggest families in Bollywood are. The Kapoor, Bachchan and Nanda families have been intertwined for many years through marriages and in Saif’s case, his marriage to Kareena links him to this family tree.

Now, Saif and Akshay are busy preparing for Haiwaan, the film which marks their reunion after almost twenty years since Tashan.
