110 Nagpur Residents in Kathmandu Safe; Arrangements Made for Their Return

• Planning underway for safe return of citizens
• Group leaves Kathmandu for Nepal-India border

Mumbai, August 28:

All 110 residents of Nagpur district who had travelled to Nepal with a group led by Shri Swami Maharaj are safe, the State Disaster Management Department said. The group, which travelled to Kathmandu on August 22, 2026, for a tourism and religious visit, comprises predominantly senior citizens.

The State Disaster Management Department said that the group was not affected by the flash flood incident reported in Nepal on August 26, 2026.

The authorities have remained in constant contact with the citizens and are regularly monitoring their situation. According to information provided by the Nagpur district administration, all 110 citizens are currently staying safely at the Maheshwari Samaj premises in Kathmandu. The Nepalese authorities are also extending necessary assistance and cooperation to the group.

As part of arrangements for their return journey, alternative buses have been arranged with the assistance of the Nepalese administration in place of the originally scheduled buses. Accordingly, the citizens left Kathmandu on August 27, 2026, and are travelling towards Janakpur, near the Nepal-India border. They are expected to reach Janakpur by early morning on August 28.

From Janakpur, the group will enter India and proceed to Patna. A train has been scheduled from Danapur railway station on August 28, 2026, for their onward journey to Nagpur. The administration has accordingly made arrangements to ensure the safe return of all the citizens to Nagpur.

The district administration is also in contact with the relatives of the citizens in Nagpur. According to information received from the relatives, all members of the group are safe. Among those in contact with the district administration are Ankush Ludekar, a resident of Premnagar, Itwari, Nagpur, and Ashitosh Chaudhary, a resident of Manewada, Nagpur.

In view of the prevailing situation in Nepal, the 110 citizens from Nagpur district are currently completely safe and remain in contact with the district administration. The administration is closely coordinating and monitoring their return journey and taking all necessary steps to ensure their safe arrival in Nagpur.
