The Welcome to the Jungle trailer accomplishes its goals with one purpose – total insanity. The Welcome franchise’s third film dumps the need for logic and plunges into the craziness of mistaken identities, jungle escapades, colourful characters, and unending pandemonium. Directed by Ahmed Khan, this film hopes to achieve an unapologetic loud and entertaining Bollywood comedy style that could be produced so easily in the past.
Akshay Kumar is one of the most notable elements of the trailer with his return to the type of environment that he usually shines in. He appears to be completely at home in all the chaos while bringing the type of comedic energy and presence that fans of his past comedies have become used to. The trailer also suggests that it will have a combination of slapstick comedy along with action, confusion, and self-deprecating humour that is immersed in a jungle adventure.
The one element of the trailer that will leave viewers constantly thinking about it will be the sheer number of actors in the cast. The actors include Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, as well as Arshad Warsi, Aftab Shivdasani, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Zakir Hussain, Ranjeet, Mushtaq Khan, Farida Jalal and Sudesh Berry.
The actresses are Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ayesha Khan. In addition, the singers Daler Mehndi and Mika Singh are also in this cast and will add a touch of carnival atmosphere to the film. The trailer moves at such a rapid pace that it could easily be turned into a game as to how many actors you can see in a short period of time; this is a double-edged sword because this is one of the trailer’s greatest strengths, but it will also create a challenge for viewers.
I can see a story about people filming a fake film turning into chaos; much like the trailer does not show too much of the actual storyline but it does show enough of the story to suggest the characters are involved in a situation that is completely off-the-wall and everything goes wrong.
In terms of visuals, the movie looks more massive than past entries in the series. The jungle environment provides a new setting, and the size of this production can be seen throughout the movie, including all of the action sequences, the intricate sets, the helicopter shots, the explosive scenes, and the chase scenes. This movie does seem to be mixing comedy and spectacle to create a film that was meant to be seen at a theatre on a large screen.
However, there are some issues with the trailer. While there are some comedic moments where the jokes land, there are a few humorous moments that rely solely on noise and chaos for laughs. There are many characters in this movie too, so there is some doubt as to whether or not everyone will have the screen time needed to make an impact. At times, the trailer puts more emphasis on the fact that the film has an all-star cast rather than focusing on establishing a good comedic hook.
Welcome To The Jungle appears to understand its intended audience. It is promised to bring back nostalgia for the series, provide larger than life entertainment, and offer a great deal of absurdity and ridiculousness. Ultimately, the success of Welcome To The Jungle is going to depend on how well it balances out the massive ensemble with good comedic writing. But at least for now, the trailer gives off enough energy, enormous visual size, and a plethora of crazy scenes that will have fans wanting to see the adventure unfold.
