They dated the same man and couldn’t stand each other? The Kareena Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra feud explained 

For a long time, Bollywood columns had held views regarding the relationship between Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. There were reported cold vibes, sharp exchanges and even rumours of a showdown between the two actresses. But the controversy around “catfight” was an unexpected common link – Shahid Kapoor. 

The relation of Shahid to this story began at two different points. He was in a high-profile relationship with Kareena before eventually dating Priyanka years later. 

In fact, even if the two actresses were never in a relation with Shahid at the same time, their common history of being in orientation with this actor became one of the most popular phrases said about the relations between the two friends.  

The story of relations between Kareena and Priyanka dates back to Aitraaz released in 2004 when both actresses acted together along with Akshay Kumar. Priyanka acted being a bold and morally ambiguous character called Sonia, which became one of the turning moments of her career. Even during the release of the movie, a famous director Suneel Darshan told in 2025 that Kareena was offered the role played by Priyanka but favored being the main heroine. 

Right after this came the news that the actresses were not getting along with each other. This was reflected in the famous Koffee With Karan episode, where Kareena said something derogatory about Priyanka. Priyanka eventually returned the favour by making a sarcastic reference to Saif Ali Khan, Kareena’s boyfriend at that time. 

Then came the Shahid connection. 

Before the relationship of Kareena and Shahid ended, they were considered one of the most popular and talked-about couples of Bollywood. Years later, Shahid started dating Priyanka. So, it was only normal that people were interested to find out whether Kareena and Priyanka’s relationship could be affected by their common connection to Shahid when they finally appeared on Koffee With Karan in 2019. 

However, Priyanka’s explanation was surprisingly pragmatic. When asked if she and Kareena were not able to get along with each other because of Shahid, she said that Shahid did not influence their relationship with each other.  

And the biggest twist of this story was that the supposed feud was among the many anecdotes from the history of Bollywood. 

In 2023, Kareena put the rumors to rest and stated that she and Priyanka had never had a fight, stating that the stories were nonsense. The actress spoke about the rivalry in Bollywood previously when they were younger. 

In 2019, the actresses were seen having a laugh on Koffee With Karan together. By 2025, Kareena was wishing Priyanka on her birthday and congratulating her for her worldwide fame. 

Consequently, what appeared like a classic case of two Bollywood actresses fighting for one boyfriend turned out to be quite the opposite. The Kareena-Priyanka scandal had all the hallmarks of a Bollywood movie, but it turned out that Shahid Kapoor was never in the middle of any love situation involving them.
