ST’s NCMC Smart Card Receives Strong Response from Passengers

Mumbai, August 13: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is witnessing a strong response to its NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) smart card initiative aimed at making bus travel more convenient, secure and digital.

As of August 12, more than 1.01 crore passengers across Maharashtra have registered for the NCMC smart card, while over 64.91 lakh cards have been activated, Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik said.

The smart card is part of MSRTC’s efforts to make ticketing more convenient and cashless. In the first phase, NCMC cards are being issued to women, senior citizens and Amrit senior citizens. From September 1, the card will be mandatory for these passenger categories.

Sarnaik said the response reflects passengers’ confidence in the corporation’s digital transformation and added that technology would be increasingly used to save passengers’ time and improve travel convenience.

NCMC Registration for Students from August 15

From August 15, registration for NCMC smart cards will begin for school students across Maharashtra. Authorised representatives of MSRTC will visit schools to complete the registration process. Students have been advised not to register through unauthorised channels.

Passengers can obtain and recharge NCMC cards through authorised MSRTC depots, bus stations and official agent networks.

Sarnaik said MSRTC would continue expanding the use of digital technology while keeping passengers at the centre of its services.
