Kangana Ranaut Slams Bollywood Over Student Protest Silence

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut lambasted the Hindi film industry for allegedly turning a blind eye towards the ongoing agitation by students in Jharkhand. She is now asking why Bollywood stars, who are otherwise quite vocal about their opinions on social and political issues, have failed to speak up against the student protests.

Kangana made her comments as the protests grew in intensity with students taking up cudgels over various issues concerning exams and education. The events and posts have also reported police action against the students, including lathi charge, among other things.

On her social media posts, Kangana made a mention of the so-called selective nature of the film industry’s reaction to various protests. She asked why the Bollywood stars have not come out for helping students protesting on the issues affecting their future.

The actress has seemingly criticized the “double standard” everyone keeps referring to when discussing different protests and their treatment. “This hypocrisy within the film industry will not do. The people in the film industry who shed crocodile tears over the Jantar Mantar protests ought to shed those same tears for the children in Jharkhand now. Those children are facing a plight too,” she said in an interview with ANI,

This time, Kangana once again caused heated discussion online, with followers reminding her of her past comments regarding student protests while supporters advocating for students from Jharkhand. The focus of online discussions has been the issue of the way celebrities judge different protests.

The actress has had a lot to say about youth issues and student movements, so her current remarks contribute to the ongoing discussion of the subject.
