Complete Loan Waiver for 6.22 Lakh Farmers Across the State! — Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister

Great News for Farmers: Complete Loan Waiver for 6.22 Lakh Farmers Across the State!

First Installment of 5,029 Crore Direct-Transferred to Bank Accounts

Mumbai, August 7: Under the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmers’ Loan Waiver Scheme 2026′, designed to provide relief to the state’s farmers, a total of 5,029 crore has been directly credited to the loan accounts of 6,22,207 eligible farmers in the first phase. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that as soon as identity authentication was completed for the farmers included in the initial list released on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi, their loan account balances were brought directly to zero (‘Nill’).

Speaking on the implementation of the scheme, the Chief Minister stated that farmers would not need to go through complex application procedures or submit tedious documents. Lists of eligible farmers have been dispatched to every Gram Panchayat. Farmers are simply required to complete their identity authentication and AgriStack number validation. As each account gets authenticated, the funds are directly transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Key Highlights:

  • Resolution of NPA Interest Misunderstandings: Banks have waived off the additional interest levied on Non-Performing Asset (NPA) accounts. Consequently, the amount disbursed by the government now matches the exact loan account balance, fully clearing the outstanding debt.
  • 12 Lakh Accounts Returned for Correction: Around 12 lakh loan accounts containing technical errors such as name/number mismatches or duplicate entries have been sent back to the respective banks. Corrections are expected within a week, after which fund disbursements for these accounts will commence.
  • No Impact on CIBIL Score: This initiative is not a One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme; the state government is settling the entire principal and interest amount. Therefore, it will not adversely affect any farmer’s CIBIL score or their eligibility for future crop loans.
  • Assistance Provided in Two Phases: The first phase covers the complete waiver of outstanding loans, while the second phase will disburse incentive bonuses to farmers who have been regular in their loan repayments.

Full Benefits Guaranteed to All Eligible Farmers Upon Verification

“Processing for approximately 18 to 19 lakh accounts is currently underway at a rapid pace. Generally, 80% of the verification work gets completed within a month, while the remaining 20% takes time due to legal heir updates or document fulfillments. However, the state government is taking utmost care to ensure that no eligible farmer is left behind. Full benefits will be disbursed to every eligible farmer as soon as their authentication is complete.”— Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister
