Maharashtra Boosts ₹1,734 Cr for Women & Child Dept

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has proposed an additional allocation of over ₹1,734 crore for the Women and Child Development Department under the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2026-27. The allocation is aimed at strengthening welfare and nutrition programmes for women and children across the state.

The additional funds are expected to support a range of initiatives focused on maternal and child welfare, nutrition, social security and the overall well-being of vulnerable families. The allocation will help enhance the implementation of existing schemes while expanding their reach to more beneficiaries, particularly women, children and economically weaker sections.

Officials said the funding reflects the government’s commitment to improving health and nutrition outcomes and ensuring better access to welfare services. The move is expected to strengthen social protection measures and contribute to the overall development and empowerment of women and children throughout Maharashtra.

The allocation forms part of the state’s broader efforts to promote inclusive growth and social welfare through targeted interventions and support programmes.
