Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Managing Director Post for AI and Agritech Innovation Centre

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the creation of the post of Managing Director for the state’s Artificial Intelligence and Agritech Innovation Centre to strengthen the implementation of the MahaAgri-AI Policy. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra fadanvis.

The Maharashtra Government has earmarked ₹500 crore under the MahaAgri-AI Policy to promote the use of artificial intelligence and advanced agritech solutions in the agriculture sector. A dedicated state-level Artificial Intelligence and Agritech Innovation Centre has already been established to drive the policy’s implementation and encourage technology-led agricultural development.

Currently, the additional charge of the Managing Director is being handled by a Deputy Secretary in the Agriculture Department. With the Cabinet’s approval, the post will now be filled on deputation by an officer of the rank of Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary, or an equivalent level, ensuring dedicated leadership for the effective execution of the policy and its initiatives.
