Maharashtra Cabinet Approves ₹500 Crore Share Capital Boost for MRVC
The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved a significant increase in the authorised share capital of the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC), raising it from ₹25 crore to ₹500 crore. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra fadanvis.
Established in 1999, MRVC is a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and the Government of Maharashtra, with equity participation in the ratio of 51:49. The corporation plays a key role in planning, developing and upgrading Mumbai’s suburban railway infrastructure under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project, with a focus on increasing network capacity and improving passenger facilities.
In view of the expanding scale of infrastructure projects being executed by MRVC, the Cabinet has also approved an increase in the corporation’s paid-up share capital from ₹25 crore to ₹225 crore. The Maharashtra Government will contribute ₹98 crore towards its share of the enhanced capital to support the implementation of upcoming railway infrastructure projects.
