Maharashtra Adds ₹3,480 Crore for Social Justice Dept

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has allocated an additional ₹3,480 crore to the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department under the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2026-27.

The substantial allocation aims to strengthen welfare programmes and improve the quality of life of socially and economically disadvantaged sections across the state.

The additional funds will be utilized for schemes benefiting Scheduled Castes, backward classes and other vulnerable communities.

The allocation also covers social security initiatives, housing assistance, educational support, healthcare services and employment-related programmes. Government officials said the enhanced funding will help expand welfare coverage, improve access to essential services and support inclusive development.

The allocation reflects the state’s continued focus on social welfare and empowerment of marginalized communities. It is expected to provide a significant boost to ongoing welfare initiatives while ensuring better implementation of schemes aimed at promoting education, employment opportunities and social security for beneficiaries across Maharashtra.
