International Partnerships to Accelerate Development of ‘Third Mumbai’: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, August 7: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said international partnerships will give a major boost to the development of “Third Mumbai” and help transform the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) into a globally competitive economic hub.

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Singapore-based Temasek’s Surbana Jurong and Mapletree at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai in the presence of CM Fadnavis.

Under the agreement, a 100-acre mixed-use development project will be undertaken at the Raigad-Pen Growth Centre. Mapletree is expected to bring in more than $1.1 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for the project and work towards attracting global investors and companies.

Surbana Jurong has been appointed as the Project Management Consultant for the Raigad-Pen Growth Centre. The company will oversee design, engineering, construction quality, project progress and compliance with contractual requirements.

Fadnavis said infrastructure projects such as the Navi Mumbai International Airport and Atal Setu are creating new opportunities for Raigad and surrounding areas. He said Singapore’s expertise in urban planning, infrastructure and development of world-class cities would benefit Maharashtra.

A 324 sq km integrated master plan is also being prepared for Mumbai 3.0. It will cover land use, transportation, housing, commercial and industrial zones, social infrastructure and other urban facilities.

The government aims to create an integrated development ecosystem linking Navi Mumbai, Raigad-Pen, Mumbai 3.0 and other emerging growth centres, generating investment, employment and modern urban infrastructure.
