Kangana Ranaut calls Naseeruddin Shah ‘lomdi’: ‘Khaate iss desh ka hain, lekin ladte padosi desh ke liye’

Kangana Ranaut, a member of Parliament from BJP and well-known actress, has attacked Naseeruddin Shah after his remark about the lack of response from Bollywood regarding student movements.

Naseeruddin Shah highlighted that while numerous famous personalities from Bollywood are silent on the ongoing protests, they will speak up when the time arrives, saying, “A dog with a bone in its mouth cannot bark.”

Kangana responded to Naseeruddin’s words by asking why Shah was also not speaking up about the protests taking place in the state of Jharkhand. She also shared a video of Piyush Mishra’s opinion about Shah’s comment on social media.

“Sach toh ye hai ki har koi kisi na kisi ka kutta hai lekin mujhe iss baat ka garv hai ki main jiss ghar (desh) ki roti khati hoon uski rakhwaali karti hoon, uske liye ladti hoon,” (The truth is that each and everyone of us is someone’s pet. I am proud that I protect and defend the same house from where I get my food. But Naseer saab eats from this land and defends the neighbours), Kangana wrote.

Taking a direct dig at Shah, she added, “Naseer saab khaate toh iss desh ke hain lekin ladte padosi desh ke liye hain.”

Later on, Kangana spoke about Shah’s use of the term “dog” asserting that a person could be called a dog as a compliment. Wrapping up her statement with a comment, she said “I would rather be a dog than a lomdi like Naseeruddin.”

What is happening in Jharkhand?

This exchange takes place during protests by aspiring candidates in Jharkhand against the alleged irregularities in the manner of conducting recruitment examinations. Incidents of violence were reported at the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday after which the police had to resort to water cannons, tear gas, and lathi-charge. Several protesters as well as four police personnel suffered injuries because of the clashes.

Kangana has also reacted to police actions by demanding clarifications from them regarding the treatment of the protesting students. She said that the protesting students were subjected to brutality including water cannon and gas attacks.

The latest comments add to the ongoing saga of verbal exchanges among the Bollywood celebrities with respect to protests by students, political expression, and the responsibilities of the celebrities to speak up.
