Brahmastra 2 finally moves ahead! Ranbir Kapoor to begin shoot with Alia Bhatt in April 2027; Deepika Padukone may join
The Brahmastra franchise is all set to move forward with the upcoming film. Ranbir Kapoor will return as Shiva, while the team expects shooting to start in April 2027. Alia Bhatt is returning as Isha, and Ayan Mukerji is in talks with Deepika Padukone for a significant role in the sequel.
A Pinkvilla report states that Brahmastra 2 is in the scripting and pre-production stage. Ranbir is likely to wrap up his commitment with Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 2 by January 2027 and will start filming for Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious venture in April.
Ranbir Kapoor to play Shiva and Dev
The sequel is expected to take Ranbir’s journey forward in terms of character development. Reportedly, he has been given the challenging task of playing the roles of both Shiva and Dev, with one of the plot points being the mystery of Dev, which was introduced in “Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva.”
Ranbir is particularly excited to return to the Astraverse. The second part of the film is expected to scale up significantly, offering more of Ayan Mukerji’s unique mix of Indian mythology and contemporary fantasy.
Alia Bhatt will also reprise the role of Isha. The part of the relationship between her character and Shiva was central to the plot of the first film, and the sequel is expected to continue with their story.
Deepika Padukone in talks for Amruta?
Deepika Padukone might be the highlight of Brahmastra 2. Ayan Mukerji is reportedly in talks with her about the role of Amruta, who is a prominent character in the Astraverse.
While Deepika hasn’t been confirmed yet, the report indicates that the talks are underway. The final green light depends on the filming schedule and her availability.
Interestingly, the first Brahmastra had already teased Amruta and Dev, creating anticipation around the mythology that the sequel could explore.
What to expect from Brahmastra 2
Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, which was released in 2022, marked the initiation of Ayan Mukerji’s Astraverse with Ranbir portraying Shiva, the central character. Alia played the female lead role of Isha, while there were notable contributions by Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna.
The movie ended with the revealing of Dev’s mystery that created scope for the sequel.
Ranbir is very likely to start filming in April 2027 and Deepika might also join the film cast. So, Brahmastra 2 is expected to be one of the most eagerly awaited films in Bollywood. Nevertheless, it will take some time before an official announcement is made by the general public about Deepika’s slot in the film.
