Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that India has undergone unprecedented transformation over the past 12 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, achieving significant progress across economic, social, infrastructural, governance, and cultural sectors while enhancing the country’s global stature.
Addressing a press conference organized to mark the completion of 12 years of the Modi-led Central Government, Fadnavis highlighted the government’s achievements and its impact on national development. BJP Maharashtra President Ravindra Chavan, Mumbai BJP President Amit Satam, General Secretary Niranjan Davkhare, and Chief Spokesperson Navnath Ban were also present.
The Chief Minister noted that Prime Minister Modi has set a record as India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, leading the nation continuously for over 4,398 days. During this period, India has made remarkable strides in multiple sectors, with nearly 250 million people lifted out of poverty and over 810 million citizens benefiting from free food grain schemes.
Fadnavis said several flagship initiatives, including Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, the Lakhpati Didi campaign, and Jal Jeevan Mission, have significantly empowered women across the country. He noted that nearly 30 million women have become “Lakhpati Didis,” including around 5 million in Maharashtra.
He also highlighted the government’s focus on good governance through digital transformation. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanisms have enabled the direct transfer of financial benefits to citizens, while platforms such as GeM and digital payment systems have enhanced transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public administration.
On the economic front, Fadnavis said India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy and maintained a growth rate of over seven percent. He added that India has established global leadership in digital transactions through UPI, while initiatives such as the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, Make in India, and semiconductor manufacturing projects have boosted industrial growth and employment generation.
The Chief Minister further stated that the Central Government has extended strong support to Maharashtra’s development through major infrastructure projects. These include the Atal Setu, Mumbai Coastal Road, Metro network expansion, Navi Mumbai International Airport, Vadhvan Port, Dighi Port, Amravati Mega Textile Park, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Auric City in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the Gadchiroli Steel City project, and the upcoming AIIMS facility in Raigad.
Fadnavis said these projects reflect the Centre’s commitment to accelerating Maharashtra’s growth and contributing to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation.
