Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation orders faster pre-monsoon works


Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide has instructed all civic departments and agencies in Mumbai to work in close coordination and complete pre-monsoon preparedness works at the earliest.

A joint review meeting involving the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and various authorities was held at the BMC headquarters to assess readiness for the upcoming monsoon.

Senior officials from civic administration, MHADA, police, and railways attended the meeting.

Storm Water Drain Management

93 waterlogging spots identified across Mumbai
547 portable dewatering pumps to be deployed
Pumping stations to be operational from May 1
24/7 manpower deployment from May 15.

Use of geo-fencing and real-time photo updates for monitoring 10 mobile pump vehicles for emergency response Roads and Traffic
83% work completed under Phase 1 of road concretization
60% completed under Phase 2, Road works to be stabilized before May 31.

Pothole repairs to be handled by ward-level contractors Dedicated agencies for express highways
Launch of “Pothole QuickFix” app for citizen complaints Drain Desilting.

Dangerous Buildings
174 buildings declared unsafe, including 141 private structures
Residents urged to vacate immediately
Authorities warn residents will be responsible for any mishaps if they continue to stay.

Drainage upgrade needed at CST station
Measures planned to prevent waterlogging at key stations
Deployment of high-capacity pumps and clearing of obstructions
