Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has proposed an additional allocation of ₹500 crore for the Public Works Department (PWD) under the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2026-27. The funding is aimed at accelerating road and bridge projects across the state and strengthening transportation infrastructure.
The additional allocation is expected to support the construction, upgradation and maintenance of key road networks and bridge projects, improving connectivity between urban and rural areas. Officials said the investment will help speed up ongoing infrastructure works and enhance the efficiency of transportation systems across Maharashtra.
The move reflects the government’s focus on infrastructure development as a key driver of economic growth. Improved roads and bridges are expected to facilitate smoother movement of people and goods, reduce travel time and boost regional development. The allocation is also likely to create employment opportunities through increased construction activity while supporting the state’s long-term development goals.
