Mumbai Mayor Vows Service Despite Bomb Threat

Mumbai, June 10, 2026: Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde has said that she will continue carrying out her public duties without fear after receiving a bomb threat email on Wednesday morning.

According to the Mayor, the threatening email was received at around 9:20 a.m. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Emergency Management Department promptly alerted her, following which the police were informed and initiated necessary action.

Despite the threat, Tawde attended her scheduled meetings at the municipal headquarters, stating that public work and important civic decisions should not be delayed because of such incidents.

She emphasized that serving the people remains her highest priority and that she would not allow intimidation to interfere with her responsibilities.

The Mayor expressed confidence that both the police and municipal administration are taking appropriate legal and technical measures to investigate the matter. Security checks related to her vehicle, office premises and personal safety are being carried out as per protocol.

Tawde stated that she is not intimidated by such threats and recalled facing pressure from certain groups in the past while taking action against illegal activities, including unauthorized street vendors and other unlawful operations. She said she had never yielded to such pressure and would continue to stand firm.

The Mayor also noted that similar threats had reportedly been received by mayors of other cities in Maharashtra, raising the possibility of a coordinated conspiracy. She expressed full confidence in the State Home Department and law enforcement agencies to uncover those responsible and take strict action.

Reaffirming her commitment to Mumbai’s citizens, Tawde said civic work would continue uninterrupted and that such threats would neither hamper the city’s development nor weaken its security.

“The administration and police are doing their job, and I will continue my commitment to public service. Such threats will not slow Mumbai’s progress,” she said.
