Sunny Singh, hailing from a middle-class family, harboured entrepreneurial aspirations from a young age. After completing his BBA, he ventured into various businesses, including a call centre and a mobile confectionery business. Despite facing setbacks, Sunny persevered, gaining valuable experience in the corporate world while honing his communication skills and understanding human behaviour through theatre.
It was during his corporate stint that Sunny crossed paths with Cherry Saxena, who shared his passion for entrepreneurship. Cherry, a German linguist with experience in e-commerce at Amazon India, recognized India’s immense potential for new businesses. The duo quickly bonded over their shared entrepreneurial vision.
The spark for ‘Special You’ ignited when Sunny decided to surprise Cherry with a personalized birthday setup. Drawing inspiration from DIY home decoration videos, Sunny transformed their living space into a festive haven using a few home decoration materials.
Reflecting on the experience, Sunny remarked, “I realized the power of personalised, DIY decorations over traditional party planning. It sparked the idea for ‘Special You.'”
With just a Rs 27,000 initial investment, Sunny and Cherry launched ‘Special You,’ offering a range of DIY decoration products. Their venture struck a chord with customers seeking unique and personalised celebration setups. Today, ‘Special You’ stands as a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication.
