Celebs Celebrate as India Wins T20 World Cup

Celebrations erupted across India following the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final, when India achieved a resounding victory, with social media being overwhelmed with content in support of Team India. Congratulatory messages poured in from Bollywood stars, cricketers, politicians, and fans worldwide after the Indian team defeated New Zealand by a solid 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. 

The Men in Blue delivered an impressive victory at this World Cup T20 by scoring 255 runs and holding New Zealand to just 159 runs. This match was remarkable and signifies a defining moment in Indian cricket history, with India the third-time World Cup T20 champions and has become the first team to win consecutive T20 World Cup championships. 

Soon after THE win, several Bollywood celebrities as well as cricketers took to social media to celebrate the achievement and congratulate Team India on their outstanding performance at this T20 World Cup. 

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan took to his social media account and praised the Indian team’s commanding display. Sharing his excitement online, the actor called it a “comprehensive victory” and congratulated the Men in Blue for making the nation proud. King Khan penned, “What a comprehensive victory!! Well done to our men in blue!!! You guys are champions, and watching you on the field has made us all very proud. Take a bow. Jai Hind!” 

Another celebrity actor on the roster of people expressing their pride over the success of the Indian cricket Team is Anushka Sharma. This post resonates heavily with all of Anushka’s followers, as she has a special relationship with Cricket. She wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to this brilliant team for this phenomenal victory !! Back to back World Cup wins.” 

With a great outpouring of pride throughout the entire Country, it was easy to see how many actors were reaching out and congratulating Team India on their great success through various forms of social media as well. Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Deol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and many other Bollywood celebs were all in the mix, congratulating our Players on their victory and expressing their pride. Akshay Kumar expressed his pride through some lighter humour by posting a fun way to show how fans across India rejoiced when Team India won the T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time.

The cricket community expressed their pride in the great performance by Team India as well. It was great to see the legendary Sachin Tendulkar praise the team and acknowledge how great it is that India is the T20 World Champions back-to-back. He wrote on his social media: “Winning the World Cup twice in a row, the first time any team has done so in the T20 format. Totally deserving and rightful winners of the trophy. What a fantastic performance by our team and a special brand of cricket on display. Well done, Team India. Jai Hind!” 

The ace Indian cricketer, Virat Kohli, also rooted for the team to bring home another Champions Trophy. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the cricketer wrote, “Champions! Phenomenal win for Team India in Ahmedabad. Absolutely no match for the explosive cricket played by us throughout the tournament. Brilliant character shown by the boys to keep fighting in tough situations and become world champions once again. Congratulations to all the players and all the members of the management for achieving this feat. Jai Hind” 

India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, after a fantastic performance in the final, was awarded Player of the Match after bowling decisively well to help remove New Zealand’s batting order. 

The victory by India caught the attention of leaders around the world, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who praised the team’s spirit and teamwork and concluded his remarks by stating that the victory would be the source of pride for every Indian citizen. 

Through various forms of social media, hashtags expressing support for Team India quickly took off in popularity as fans and celebrities alike posted video clips, messages, and heartfelt tributes to the players. The victory united people from the Bollywood community and in the world of cricket to celebrate.
