Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal says fuel sales increased by 20 per cent in May
Mumbai, May 22: Maharashtra Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Chhagan Bhujbal has assured citizens that there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the state and appealed to people not to engage in panic buying or unnecessary stockpiling of fuel.
Addressing the media, Chhagan Bhujbal said that fluctuations in the international situation over the past few days have led to rumours about a possible fuel shortage in Maharashtra. However, he clarified that the state has adequate stocks of petrol and diesel and there is no disruption in fuel supply.
The minister said that in several places, people have been purchasing fuel beyond their normal requirements due to fear and rumours. As a result, petrol and diesel sales across Maharashtra during May have risen by nearly 20 per cent compared to regular consumption levels.
He appealed to citizens to remain calm and avoid storing excess fuel unnecessarily. Chhagan Bhujbal stated that both the Central Government and the Maharashtra Government are fully capable of ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply to every citizen.
“There is no need for panic buying or hoarding due to rumours or fear,” he said.
During the interaction, the minister also shared fuel sales figures from various districts in Maharashtra over the last few days. He urged people to purchase fuel only as needed and cooperate with the administration.
