6 OTT Shows and Movies to Watch This Weekend

The weekend is here, and the streaming platforms have a varied lineup for viewers looking to settle in with something new. Whether you enjoy international political intrigue, an elaborate con, or a psychological thriller rooted in family secrets, there is something worth checking out.

Here are six shows and movies to consider for your weekend binge.

1. The Diplomat Season 4

Netflix

The political thriller returns with Kate Wyler caught between international crises, shifting alliances, and an increasingly complicated marriage. With Grace Penn now in the White House, the stakes are rising on both the diplomatic and personal fronts.

Why watch: Sharp dialogue, political manoeuvring, and a protagonist who has to navigate crises without ever having the full picture.

2. Masterplan

Prime Video

Starring: Stanley Tucci, Simona Tabasco, Victor Belmondo

A retired master thief recruits an Italian hacker and a French explosives expert for an audacious attempt to steal the Mona Lisa. The complication? The two recruits are long-lost siblings, and the mastermind behind the operation happens to be their father.

Why watch: A high-profile art heist, family secrets, and the promise of an entertaining crime caper. This is the pick for viewers who prefer their thrillers with a generous helping of comedy.

3. Tenzing

Apple TV

This biographical drama revisits the historic 1953 Mount Everest expedition through the life of Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay and his partnership with Edmund Hillary. It also explores the prejudice Tenzing faced and his struggle to receive equal recognition for his achievement.

Why watch: A story about ambition, courage, and recognition, with the Himalayas providing a remarkable backdrop. An especially compelling choice for those interested in the people behind history’s defining achievements.

4. Aasha

ZEE5

A seemingly minor road accident sets off a disturbing chain of events for a widow already dealing with trauma. Her refusal to back down from a confrontation with a volatile man turns an everyday dispute into a psychological nightmare.

Why watch: For those who enjoy slow-building tension, volatile characters, and ordinary situations that spiral into something sinister. Urvashi’s presence makes this Malayalam thriller worth a closer look.

5. Money Trap: The Karun Treasure

Netflix

Con artist Asım Noyan reunites with his old gang for one last score after getting hold of a map to the legendary Treasure of Karun. The plan soon becomes more complicated as rival gangs and treasure hunters enter the picture.

Why watch: A globe-trotting treasure hunt with scams, competing agendas, and plenty of scope for things to go wrong. A good alternative to the darker thrillers on this list.

6. Sacrifice

A charity gala on a remote Greek island becomes a hostage crisis when a radical group takes the wealthy guests captive. Its leader believes an extreme act of sacrifice is necessary to prevent global ecological catastrophe.

Why watch: A provocative mix of satire, celebrity culture, environmental anxiety, and survival thriller. The heavyweight cast adds to the appeal, while the premise sets up a collision between extreme beliefs and extreme privilege.
