Major Relief for Rain-Hit Farmers; Maharashtra Approves 23.33 Crore Aid

17,245 farmers affected by June-July natural calamities to receive input subsidy

The Mahayuti Government has extended a major financial relief to farmers whose crops were damaged by natural calamities during June and July 2026. The government has approved 23.33 crore in input subsidy for 17,245 affected farmers across the state whose agricultural crops suffered extensive damage due to heavy rains, floods, cyclonic conditions and hailstorms.

The damage affected nearly 11,207 hectares of agricultural land across the Amravati, Pune, Nagpur and Konkan divisions. Taking serious note of the losses, the government has expedited the administrative process to make financial assistance available to the affected farmers.

Under the decision, 13.80 crore has been approved for Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana and Amravati districts in the Amravati division. A further 9.13 crore has been sanctioned for Pune and Satara districts, while 38.87 lakh has been approved for Wardha district. Assistance has also been sanctioned for Sindhudurg district.

The government has decided to transfer the approved assistance directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The mechanism is intended to ensure that the financial assistance reaches beneficiaries without intermediaries and with greater transparency.

The administration has also been specifically directed to ensure that the assistance provided to farmers is not diverted or adjusted by banks against their outstanding loans or recovery proceedings. This is expected to ensure that the relief amount remains available to farmers to deal with crop losses and prepare for the next agricultural season.

The government has maintained that the assistance reflects its focus on providing immediate support to farmers affected by natural calamities. The release of the input subsidy is expected to provide much-needed financial support to thousands of farmers struggling to recover from the losses suffered during the June-July period.
