In a major relief to farmers across Maharashtra, the State Government has taken another significant step towards freeing the farming community from the burden of debt. At a special programme held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, the second tranche of benefits amounting to 5,086 crore was directly transferred into the bank accounts of 6,36,036 eligible farmers under the ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmers’ Debt Relief Scheme 2026. The transfer was carried out by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, other members of the State Cabinet and senior administrative officials were present on the occasion.

10,115 Crore Directly Disbursed So Far

According to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the government’s primary objective is to relieve farmers of their debt burden and enable them to regain access to agricultural credit and restart their farming activities with greater financial stability.

Under the scheme, 12,58,243 eligible farmers have so far received a total of 10,115 crore directly in their bank accounts. The financial assistance provided in the first and second phases is expected to provide substantial economic relief to millions of farming families and give fresh impetus to the rural economy.

Big Relief for Farmers Across Rural Maharashtra

The direct transfer of financial assistance has helped reduce the outstanding loan burden reflected in farmers’ land records. With the assistance being credited directly into bank accounts through a transparent digital system, without the involvement of intermediaries, the initiative has generated a sense of relief and satisfaction among the farming community.

The financial support is also expected to enable farmers to accelerate agricultural activities and prepare more effectively for the upcoming farming season.

The Mahayuti government’s farmer-centric initiative is being viewed as a significant step towards providing financial stability to the State’s farming community and strengthening the rural economy.
