The Indian LED lighting industry is estimated to be worth around Rs 12,000 crore, with the
consumer segment comprising nearly 40% of the market. Sturlite Electric currently holds a 5%
market share in this segment and aims to double it within the next four years, positioning itself
as a leading player in the LED business. To achieve this, the company plans to expand its
manufacturing capacity for LED segments, including electronic drivers and assembly parts of
LED bulbs. Sturlite Electric also intends to expand its global footprint by entering markets such
as Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka within the next one to two years.
The domestic LED industry is experiencing a steady growth rate of around 20-25% CAGR and
is expected to continue for the next two to three years. LED technology continually fosters
innovation, with frequent upgrades resulting in higher light output per unit of watt. This enables
lower wattage sources to provide brighter illumination.
