Women-led development transforming India: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday emphasized that India’s vision of women-led development is breaking long-standing societal barriers and reshaping opportunities for women across sectors.

Highlighting the growing presence of women in traditionally male-dominated fields, the Prime Minister said Indian women are now excelling as fighter pilots and achieving new milestones in aviation. He noted with pride that India has the highest percentage of women pilots in the world, reflecting a significant shift in societal attitudes.

Focusing on education, the Prime Minister pointed out that PhD enrollment among women has doubled since 2014, with women now accounting for nearly half of participation in higher education and research. In key fields like mathematics and science, women represent approximately 43 percent of students, showcasing a steady rise in academic inclusion.

Addressing the critical issue of women’s safety, Modi underlined that the government has implemented strong legal reforms. He highlighted the introduction of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which prioritizes women’s safety by simplifying procedures such as e-FIR and Zero-FIR filing from any location. The law also enables the recording of victims’ statements through audio-video means. Additionally, fast-track special courts have been established to ensure quicker delivery of justice.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Prime Minister assured that the nation understands the aspirations of every mother, sister, and daughter, and is working actively to help them realize their dreams. He praised the achievements of India’s “Nari Shakti,” stating that their progress is driven by determination, courage, and self-confidence.

In his concluding remarks, Modi urged women to spread awareness about the Nari Shakti Vandan initiative across villages through personal outreach and social media engagement. He called for collective efforts to ensure greater participation of women in decision-making, from state assemblies to Parliament.“Ensuring women’s rightful place in governance and empowering them as equal participants in nation-building is the strongest guarantee of India’s bright future,” the Prime Minister said.
