Where Do Water Tankers Get Water Amid 10% Cut in Mumbai? Who Is Backing the Tanker Lobby, Asks Atul Londhe

Mumbai, August 31: With several housing societies in Mumbai facing a 10% water cut and being forced to depend on private water tankers, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee senior spokesperson Atul Londhe has questioned the source of water supplied to these tankers and alleged that the tanker lobby may have political connections.

Londhe said tanker water supply can be understood in areas lacking proper development, pipelines or dedicated water sources. However, he questioned how tankers continue to receive water when the city itself is facing shortages and a water cut.

“Where do these tankers get water from? Who owns this tanker lobby and who is backing it?” Londhe asked.

He demanded that the identities of tanker owners be disclosed and questioned whether any corporators, their close associates, contractors or relatives are linked to the business.

Londhe urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation administration, BMC Commissioner and the Maharashtra Government to issue a detailed clarification on the operation and ownership of the tanker network, saying Mumbai residents deserve answers.
