BookMyShow Appoints Rohit Kalra Head of Emerging Brands
The former Next Mediaworks CEO joins after more than a decade at HT Media Group, where he helped take Fever Network into live music and experiences.
BookMyShow has appointed Rohit Kalra as Head, Emerging Brands. Kalra spent more than a decade with HT Media Group, holding senior roles across radio, audio, revenue and live entertainment. He recently stepped down as CEO of Next Mediaworks Limited.
From radio to live experiences
Kalra took charge of the audio business as Chief Revenue Officer in April 2023, with responsibility that also covered Fever Network’s commercial operations and live entertainment portfolio. During that time, Fever Network moved beyond radio into live music, touring, entertainment intellectual properties and experiential formats.
The portfolio included the Satinder Sartaaj Heritage India Tour, which covered more than 20 cities over 10 months, as well as Vishal Mishra’s India tour, concerts featuring Lucky Ali and Piyush Mishra, and live performances featuring Arijit Singh. It also included the international Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) tour, and entertainment properties such as The Burrah Project and Indie Folk Project. These projects gave brands ways to engage audiences through live experiences, music-led properties and integrated partnerships.
Earlier career
Before becoming Chief Revenue Officer, Kalra was Vice President at Fever Network from February 2016 to March 2023, working on its expansion and commercial development. Before HT Media Group, he spent over a decade at Idea Cellular in enterprise and SME sales, rural distribution and business development. He has also worked at Airtel as Zonal Sales Manager and at Stracom India as Area Manager.
Why it matters
Kalra brings commercial experience across media, telecom, revenue strategy, distribution, live entertainment and brand partnerships. His appointment comes as entertainment platforms look for opportunities where brands, content, live experiences and consumer engagement meet. The source does not describe what the Emerging Brands role will cover.
