Akhilesh Yadav slip sparks BJP-Congress row

The political discourse across the country is currently revolving around the historical decline of the Congress party. Recent discussions have highlighted how, in various states including Tamil Nadu (1967), West Bengal (1977), Uttar Pradesh (1989), Bihar (1990), Tripura (1993), Gujarat (1995), and Odisha (2000), once Congress lost power, it never managed to return to the helm.

As this “destiny’s twist” for the Congress party is being debated across the nation, ‘INDIA’ bloc leader Akhilesh Yadav found himself in an awkward spot while attempting to discuss the predicament of his alliance partner. During a recent interaction, while referring to the Congress party’s dismal state, Yadav mistakenly uttered the name of the ‘BJP’ instead.

Political observers suggest that this slip of the tongue is a clear indication of the psychological pressure and the pervasive fear of the BJP’s dominance that has gripped opposition leaders. In response to the incident, the BJP took a jibe at Yadav, stating, “Ladke hain, ladkon se kabhi-kabhi galti ho jaati hai” (They are boys, sometimes boys make mistakes).

The incident has become a talking point in political circles, with many viewing it as a manifestation of the opposition’s growing anxiety over their fading relevance. As the Congress party continues to lose its electoral ground across various states, the narrative of the BJP’s rising influence seems to be haunting its political rivals even in their unguarded moments
