MahaRERA Approves 4,332 New Projects in FY 2023-24

In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has granted registration numbers to 4,332 new projects out of the 5,471 applications it received. The remaining 1,139 projects are under scrutiny and will receive registration numbers upon rectification of issues, such as delays in approval emails and resolution of proposal errors.

Pune led the tally with 1,172 approved projects, followed by Thane with 597, Mumbai Suburban with 528, Raigad with 450, Nagpur with 336, and Nashik with 310 projects, among others.

Region-wise, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) had the highest number of approvals at 1,976 projects, followed by Western Maharashtra with 1,415 projects and Vidarbha with 437 projects. Northern Maharashtra saw 347 new projects, while Marathwada had 149 projects approved.

Additionally, in response to irregularities in the Kalyan-Dombivali area, MahaRERA now mandates developers to provide a copy of the ‘Commencement Certificate’ (CC) from planning authorities before seeking registration. This requirement aims to enhance transparency and accountability in project approvals.

In Pune, out of 1,431 projects, 1,172 have been registered, while in Thane, 597 out of 765 projects have received approval. Mumbai Suburbs saw 528 projects approved out of 655, while Raigad had 450 out of 546 projects registered. In Nagpur, 336 out of 404 projects were approved, and in Nashik, 310 out of 381 projects received registration.

In the Kalyan-Dombivli and Vasai-Virar regions, 332 out of 446 projects were registered, including 123 from Vasai-Virar and 209 from Kalyan-Dombivli.

The district-wise breakdown of approved projects includes Mumbai City with 77 projects, Palghar with 223, Ratnagiri with 66, Sindhudurg with 35, Kolhapur with 85, Satara with 66, Sangli with 53, and Solapur with 39. In Vidarbha, Nagpur led with 336 projects, followed by Amravati with 45, and Wardha with 24. Nasik had the highest number of projects in North Maharashtra with 310, while Sambhajinagar led Marathwada with 117 projects. Additionally, there were 8 projects in Dadra, Nagar, Haveli.
