Night Watchman Shines in Competitive Exams, Lands Two Government Jobs and Set for Third

For anyone born in humble means, the dream to soar higher in life is one that is often inescapable. And once those dreams come to reality, all the sleepless nights, all the effort, toil, and trouble seems to be worth it as the Big Indian Dream begins to come true.

It is certainly so for Golle Praveen Kumar, a 31-year-old night watchman at Hyderabad’s Osmania University, who has achieved a remarkable feat by securing two government jobs and is poised to land a third. With a postgraduate teacher’s post already in hand, he is also on the verge of receiving an appointment as a junior lecturer, with expectations of securing a trained graduate teacher job as well.

Hailing from a small village in Telangana’s Mancherial district, Praveen’s parents work as a mason and a beedi worker. Despite his family’s modest background, Praveen, armed with degrees in MCom, BEd, and MEd, took up the night watchman’s job as an outsourcing employee to dedicate more time to preparing for government exams.

Remarkably, Praveen achieved this feat without any coaching assistance. “For the last five years, I’ve worked as a night watchman at the EMRC. During my shifts, I studied under the streetlights, preparing for competitive exams,” he says proudly.

He relied on YouTube tutorials for his preparation. “I missed selection for the DSC 2018 notification by just half a mark,” Praveen Kumar adds.

His dedication has yielded results, as he is poised to receive monthly salaries ranging from Rs 73,000 to Rs 83,000, a substantial increase from his current Rs 9,000 salary. Despite receiving several job offers, Praveen is inclined towards accepting the junior lecturer position, as it resonates with his passion for teaching and learning.
