Modi and UAE's Al Nahyan Push Forward Trade Corridor Amid Middle East Conflict

Despite the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) and UAE leader Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have agreed to advance the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The corridor, linking India to Europe through the Middle East, aims to boost trade and counter China’s influence in the region.

During Modi’s visit to Abu Dhabi, agreements were also made on a bilateral investment treaty, electricity connection, and digital infrastructure. This move underscores the importance of economic cooperation amid regional conflicts, as both leaders monitor and discuss the situation in Gaza and the Red Sea.

Modi, addressing Indians in the UAE, praised the strong ties between the two countries and referred to Sheikh Mohammed as his brother. He is set to inaugurate the first Hindu temple in the UAE before heading to Qatar to meet with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
