Luisa Yu had an amusing dream of travelling all over the world since she was a little girl living in the Philippines. Now, this little girl is a grown up 79-year-old woman who completed her aim of travelling to every country in the world in November, 2023.

Yu arrived in the US as an exchange student at the age of 23 and later on began exploring when she could, and was quick to thank America for helping this dream come true.

In an interview with a media outlet, she explained how it all started. “When I went to the movies, I saw this beautiful backdrop about the scenery, the nature, the rivers, the mountains, and that fascinated me”, Yu recalled. “That’s why I always thought someday I will go to these places and travel.”

Initially, Luisa started with the US. As it was not possible for her to travel frequently, she specifically took a Greyhound bus and explored the entirety of the USA. Before embracing travel as her second career choice, Luisa was a Medical Technology student and later had the courage to swap to a career as a travel agent, because of the flexibility it offered for regular vacations.

From the past 5 Decades she travelled multiple countries across Europe before branching out to Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Eventually, she made up her mind to visit all 193 countries that are member states of the United Nations.

In due course of her interview, Yu recalled that as her epic travels drew to an end, her best friends convinced her to keep the Balkans last on her list, so that they prepare well to celebrate Luisa’s last country off her bucket list together.

The second UN Master tag was given to Luisa Yu, which is recognized by Nomad Mania. She encouraged everyone who is deeply passionate about travelling to explore the world, saying that there will be challenges, but it will make you stronger than ever.
