Mumbai, July 14: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the redevelopment of Baramati Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of ₹11.40 crore. The upgraded station is expected to be dedicated to the nation shortly.
Pawar said the redevelopment was made possible through sustained efforts and regular follow-up with the Central Government and the Ministry of Railways during her tenure as a Member of Parliament. She added that the initiative fulfilled the long-pending demand of Baramati residents for a modern, passenger-friendly railway station.
Originally commissioned in 1914, the station has undergone a major transformation after its conversion to broad gauge. The redevelopment includes modern passenger amenities such as improved waiting halls, accessible facilities for persons with disabilities, enhanced parking infrastructure and architecture inspired by the region’s cultural heritage.
Handling nearly 1,800 passengers daily, the revamped station is expected to improve travel convenience while strengthening Baramati’s connectivity.
Highlighting Baramati’s importance as a major agricultural, educational and industrial hub, Pawar said the upgraded railway infrastructure would promote trade, tourism and regional economic growth, giving fresh momentum to the area’s overall development.
