Asha Bhosle tribute: Music academy planned in Mumbai

Following the demise of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, the state cabinet has taken a significant decision to honor her legacy. The Maharashtra government has announced the establishment of the “Asha Bhosle Music Academy” in Mumbai as a tribute to the Padma Vibhushan awardee.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Alongside this, the cabinet approved a total of eight key decisions, including reforms in recruitment processes and the establishment of the IES Skill Tech University in Mumbai.

During the meeting, Minister Pratap Sarnaik raised the issue of creating a memorial in Asha Bhosle’s name. In response, the Chief Minister stated that instead of a traditional memorial, the government would move forward with Bhosle’s own proposal to set up a music academy.

It was revealed that Asha Bhosle had earlier requested the government to allocate land between Bandra and Andheri for this purpose. Honoring her wish, the government has now decided to establish the academy in that area. The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has been instructed to identify and allocate suitable land.

This move reflects the government’s decision to fulfill Asha Bhosle’s vision posthumously, ensuring her contribution to Indian music continues to inspire future generations.
