Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, 52, has been diagnosed with brain clots after being admitted to Akruti Hospital in Thane district on Monday. The hospitalization followed complaints of a urinary infection and cramps, raising concerns about his deteriorating health.
Dr. Vivek Trivedi, overseeing Kambli’s treatment, confirmed the diagnosis after a series of tests. “His condition is being closely monitored, and further examinations are planned,” Dr. Trivedi stated.
In a compassionate gesture, the hospital’s in-charge, S. Singh announced that the facility would provide Kambli with lifetime free medical care. The admission was reportedly facilitated by a devoted fan who owns the hospital.
Kambli has faced multiple health challenges in recent years, including two heart surgeries in 2013, financially supported by his childhood friend and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. Earlier this month, Kambli appeared visibly frail at an event in Mumbai honouring their coach, Ramakant Achrekar.
Expressing concern, cricketing legends Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar have called for rehabilitation support for the former cricketer. Kambli himself revealed a recent health scare, recounting how dizziness caused him to collapse at home, with his family rushing to his aid.
The cricket community has rallied around Kambli during this difficult time, reflecting his enduring legacy and contributions to Indian cricket.
