Some love stories begin with grand gestures. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s romance started with a direct message from Nick to Priyanka that included a picture request and a proposal that nearly caused Nick a heart attack.
At this point in time, they are considered to be one of the most popular celebrity couples in the world, but their way to “I do” was filled with plenty of romantic moments.
Many people don’t know that before Nick and Priyanka started to date, Nick made the first move by sending Priyanka a message on social media, which took place in 2016 as the first step towards starting to be friends with Priyanka. Though Nick and Priyanka didn’t meet in person, the American singer-songwriter and musician was in touch with her through messages. It is funny to note that during one of their conversations, Nick came up with an unusual request and asked PeeCee to send him her picture, which at that time the actress found funny.
Fast forward to 2018, and Nick had already made up his mind. Just a couple of months after they officially began dating, he secretly planned the proposal during a romantic trip to Greece to celebrate Priyanka’s birthday.
The proposal, however, didn’t go exactly as planned.
Nick recently revealed that he planned to pop the question at midnight after Priyanka’s birthday, but the travel hiccups marred his meticulously planned proposal. He carried the engagement ring, trying not to show bubbles of excitement, but revealed how anxious he was during the entire journey. Priyanka had noticed that there was something unusual about him during the trip, but had no clue about what was going to happen next.
When his moment finally came, Nick went down on one knee to seek Priyanka’s hand in marriage. However, the actress did not reply to him instantly. Instead, she gave him a blank stare. She waited for about 50 seconds before responding. Nick has joked about those agonizing seconds, saying it looked like an eternity for him. Not knowing what was on Priyanka’s mind, he waited until she made her decision and finally accepted his proposal.
Their exciting love affair progressed quickly. Nick and Priyanka got engaged in July 2018, marrying in Jodhpur later that year. Their wedding took place according to both Christian and Hindu ceremonies that celebrated their diversity. Their life together since has seen them welcoming their daughter, Malti Marie, in 2022, while advocating for the significance of trust, communication, and time for each other despite their careers.
