Maharashtra Seeks ₹97,706 Crore in FY27 Demands

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has presented a Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for the financial year 2026-27, seeking additional financial provisions of nearly ₹97,706 crore to meet the state’s growing development and welfare commitments.

The supplementary demands, tabled before the State Legislature under Article 205 of the Constitution of India, include allocations for both revenue and capital expenditure across key sectors such as urban development, energy, social justice, public health, education, agriculture and infrastructure.

According to the Finance Department, the additional provisions are intended to cover expenditure on ongoing schemes, new initiatives requiring legislative approval, and commitments arising during the current financial year. Significant allocations have been proposed for power infrastructure, urban development projects, welfare schemes, healthcare services, rural employment programmes and public works.

The supplementary budget reflects the state’s focus on accelerating development projects, strengthening public services and supporting welfare initiatives for various sections of society. The government stated that the allocations would help ensure timely implementation of key programmes while addressing emerging financial requirements across departments.

The supplementary demands will be taken up for discussion during the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature. Following a detailed debate, the proposals are expected to be considered for approval by both Houses, enabling the government to secure additional funds for key development projects, welfare schemes and infrastructure initiatives across the state. Once approved, the allocations will allow various departments to meet expenditure requirements and accelerate the implementation of priority programmes during the current financial year.
