Maharashtra Allocates ₹1,237 Cr for Agriculture Sector

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has proposed an additional allocation of ₹1,237 crore for the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department under the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2026-27. The allocation is aimed at strengthening key sectors that form the backbone of the state’s rural economy.

The additional funds will support crop development programmes, livestock welfare initiatives, dairy sector expansion and fisheries promotion across Maharashtra. The allocation is expected to enhance agricultural productivity, improve animal health services and create better opportunities for farmers, dairy producers and fishing communities.

Officials said the supplementary provision reflects the government’s commitment to rural development and agricultural growth. The funding is likely to boost ongoing schemes, improve infrastructure and strengthen support systems for allied sectors. The move is expected to benefit thousands of farmers and rural households while contributing to sustainable economic growth in the state.
