Maharashtra Allocates ₹11,760 Crore for Energy Sector

Mumbai: In a major boost to the power and energy sector, the Maharashtra Government has proposed supplementary provisions exceeding ₹11,760 crore for the Industries, Energy, Labour and Mining Department in the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure for 2026-27. The substantial allocation highlights the state’s commitment to strengthening energy infrastructure, ensuring power security and promoting sustainable growth.

A significant portion of the additional funding has been earmarked for power and renewable energy-related commitments, reflecting the government’s focus on meeting rising electricity demand across industrial, agricultural and urban sectors. The allocation is expected to support power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure while also advancing renewable energy initiatives.

Officials said the additional provisions will help improve energy availability, strengthen the power network and support Maharashtra’s long-term development goals. The move is also expected to enhance the state’s capacity to meet future energy requirements and accelerate the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable sources of power.
