Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has purchased a luxurious property at The St. Regis Marsa Arabia Island, located in The Pearl, Doha, Qatar. The announcement came during a recent press event hosted by the Alfardan Group, where the actor opened up about what drew him to this exquisite destination. Describing the property as a “home away from home,” Saif praised the comfort, aesthetics, privacy, and peace it offers — qualities he considers essential in a second residence.
“I had gone there to do some work, and I was shooting for something. I stayed at the property and thought it was amazing. There was something about the mixture of privacy and luxury that I really liked. The food, the curated menu, the ambiance — everything just clicked,” Saif said. “It felt like home away from home, and that made the decision very easy.”
Privacy, Safety, and Serenity: Why Saif Chose Doha
For Saif, the most compelling factors were the property’s seclusion, safety, and its unique location. He highlighted how it offered a peaceful environment that was both exclusive and easily accessible, especially from India. The concept of “an island within an island,” as he put it, struck a luxurious and imaginative chord that stayed with him long after his initial stay.
He added, “The most important thing is that it’s very safe, and it feels very good to be there. The views, the food, the kind of lifestyle, and the pace of living — these are the things that really influenced my decision.” The actor also shared that he is excited to take his sons, Taimur and Jehangir (Jeh), to visit the new home soon.
From Bandra to Gstaad
Saif Ali Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, are no strangers to global luxury living. Their primary residence is in Bandra, Mumbai, but the couple also owns the historic Pataudi Palace in Haryana, as well as properties in London and the Swiss town of Gstaad — a favorite holiday destination among Bollywood’s elite.
With the addition of the Qatar property, Saif’s international portfolio expands further, underlining his affinity for culturally rich and aesthetically curated spaces. His new home at Marsa Arabia Island not only reflects his refined taste but also emphasizes his desire for tranquil, family-friendly environments.
Moving Forward After Knife Attack
Saif’s decision to purchase a home in Qatar comes just three months after a harrowing knife attack in Mumbai. On January 16, the actor was injured during an attempted burglary at his Bandra residence. The attacker, identified as Shehzad, allegedly broke into the property and stabbed Saif, causing injuries to his thoracic spine and other areas.
He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent treatment for five days before being discharged on January 21. The traumatic incident marked a difficult period for Saif and his family, making his move toward a safer and more peaceful environment all the more significant.
Jewel Thief to Premiere on Netflix
Saif Ali Khan is set to return to the screen with Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, a Netflix original film that premieres on April 25. Directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, the heist thriller stars Saif as a charismatic thief who teams up with a partner, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, to steal the ultra-rare African Red Sun diamond. Kunal Kapoor and Nikita Dutta also feature in key roles, with Kapoor portraying the determined detective on their trail.
The film marks Saif’s first release since his recovery and promises a gripping performance, blending suspense, action, and star-studded intrigue.
