Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has been admitted to Reliance Hospital for a medical check-up following concerns about his health. Thackeray, who has a history of heart-related issues, is currently undergoing tests to identify possible blockages in his heart arteries. He had not been feeling well since his fiery speech at the Dussehra rally on October 12, where he launched a sharp attack on the ruling Mahayuti government and the Centre.
Thackeray’s cardiac history dates to 2012 when he underwent his first angioplasty procedure on July 20, during which eight stents were placed to remove multiple blockages in three major arteries. Later that year, in November 2012, a second angioplasty was performed to clear a 60% blockage in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery.
In 2016, Thackeray had an angiography at Lilavati Hospital as part of routine post-angioplasty care. Dr. Mathew Kalarical, who oversaw the procedure, confirmed at the time that all the stents were functioning normally with proper blood flow, allowing Thackeray to resume a normal, active lifestyle without restrictions. His son, Aditya Thackeray, had issued a statement then, explaining that the procedure was pre-planned to ensure the stents were working effectively.
The current tests at Reliance Hospital are being conducted as a precautionary measure to assess his heart condition and determine if any further intervention is needed.
