In a startling development, two doctors from Pune’s Sassoon Hospital have been apprehended by Maharashtra police for their alleged involvement in tampering with the blood report of a 17-year-old boy implicated in a fatal car crash in Kalyani Nagar. The incident, which occurred on May 19 and resulted in the tragic deaths of two motorbike-borne software engineers, has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about the integrity of the investigation.
According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the accused minor’s blood sample was secretly replaced with another person’s sample, casting doubt on the authenticity of the initial report. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) findings revealed conflicting results between the first and second blood reports, prompting suspicions of foul play.
Further investigation uncovered that the samples indeed belonged to different individuals, leading authorities to suspect the involvement of doctors at Sassoon Hospital in evidence tampering. Dr. Ajay Tawre, Head of the Forensic Medicine Department, and Dr. Srihari Halnor, Chief Medical Officer, have been taken into custody in connection with the case.
