Setting the Stage for India’s first Quantum-focused Global Summit in Bengaluru 

India’s first large-scale summit on quantum research & tech announced in Bengaluru 

  • Karnataka to host global quantum leaders, startups, and researchers 
  • Nobel Laureates to headline keynote sessions at QIB 2025 
  • Summit to drive collaboration across Research, industry and policy 

The Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS), Department of Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, in association with the IISc Quantum Technology Initiative (IQTI), hosted the Curtain Raiser & Press Meet today for the Quantum India Bengaluru Summit (QIB 2025), which will be held on 31st July and 1st August, 2025 at Hotel Hilton, Bengaluru. QIB 2025 will be India’s first large-scale summit dedicated to Quantum research, technologies & business. 

The programme was attended by Shri N.S. Boseraju, Hon’ble Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka; Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS, Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, Bt, and S&T, Government of Karnataka; Shri Sadashiva Prabhu B, IAS Director, Dept. of Science & Technology, Managing Director, Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS) Government of Karnataka; Prof. Arindam Ghosh, Professor, IISc & QIB 2025 Conference Chair; Prof. Akshay Naik, Professor, IISc & QIB 2025 Conference Co-Chair and Shri Jagdish Patankar, Exec. Chairman, MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications, the event curators. 

Held at the Prof. U. R. Rao Auditorium at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, the Curtain Raiser & Press Meet also brought together senior officials from the Government of Karnataka, leaders from Industry, premier research institutions, scientists, startup founders, and members of the media. The programme offered a glimpse into the upcoming.  

Speaking at the Curtain Raiser, Shri N.S. Boseraju, Hon’ble Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, said, “It is a privilege to be part of the curtain raiser for the inaugural edition of Quantum India Bengaluru 2025. This event marks the beginning of a bold and strategic journey for Karnataka as we position ourselves at the forefront of quantum science and technology. With world-class institutions, a rich pool of scientific talent, and a thriving innovation ecosystem, Karnataka is ready to lead India’s next technological leap. Quantum India Bengaluru is not just a summit; it is a signal of intent. An intent to build, collaborate, and lead. In partnership with the Indian Institute of Science and the Department of Science and Technology, we are laying the foundation for a robust quantum ecosystem that will serve the nation and engage the world. In the coming days, we will unveil Karnataka’s Quantum Action Plan, a comprehensive strategy focused on research, skilling, innovation, infrastructure, and international collaboration. It is our commitment to harnessing the full potential of quantum technologies and shaping a future driven by knowledge, science, and progress”. 

The Theme of the inaugural QIB will be ‘Building a Quantum Ecosystem: Qubits to Society’. The Event will centre around five key themes- Quantum Computing; Finance & AI; Quantum Peripherals & Hardware; Quantum in Healthcare, Security; and in Society & Art.  The Summit will feature an exceptional lineup of sessions and engagements. Highlight of the Conference are the keynote lectures to be delivered by Prof. Duncan Haldane, Princeton University, USA and the 2016 Physics Nobel Laureate, Prof. David Gross, UCSB, USA and the 2004 Physics Nobel Laureate, Prof. Tommaso Calarco of European Union Quantum Flagship, & Director of the Institute of Quantum Control PGI-8, Germany, Prof. Andrea C Ferrari of the University of Cambridge, UK, Prof. Subir Sachdev of the Harvard University, USA, who are among many quantum pioneers joining as speakers and panelists. 

In addition to the insightful sessions, attendees can explore a dedicated Exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions from startups, research institutions, and quantum hardware companies. A special highlight of the summit will be the Quantum Poster Showcase, where students, PhD scholars and researchers will present their work to a global audience. For deeptech and quantum startups, QIB 2025 will also host Startup Pitch sessions, providing a platform to connect with investors and collaborators. 

Adding to the Hon’ble Minister’s remarks, Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS, Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, Bt, and S&T, Government of Karnataka, expressed, “Quantum technologies have been quietly taking shape in Karnataka- across institutions, startups, and research labs and it’s time we put that momentum on the global map. With IISc leading as the Thematic Hub of the National Quantum Mission and strong state-backed initiatives like the Quantum Research Park, Karnataka is not just participating in the quantum movement- we are helping shape its future. The Quantum India Bengaluru will bring together top researchers, cutting-edge projects, and emerging companies to collaborate and foster a robust quantum technology industry in India”, he said. 

Prof. Arindam Ghosh, Professor, IISc & QIB 2025 Conference Chair said, “Quantum India Bengaluru 2025 has been thoughtfully designed to unite innovation with real-world impact. Moving beyond conventional academic silos, we have identified five priority sectors of healthcare, strategic security, computing and AI, quantum hardware, and societal engagement, where quantum technologies can create both immediate and long-term value. The summit actively builds an ecosystem where collaboration between academia, startups, industry, and strategic sectors begins at the foundational level. Our vision is to drive inclusive, application-focused quantum development that delivers meaningful economic and technological outcomes aligned with national priorities”, he added.
