बड़ी ढीठ है चाहतों की चिरैय्या, ये धरा नहीं गगन मांगती है : Mansi Yadav’s Courage Reflects a Safer Uttar Pradesh

It was nearing midnight on the Sultanpur–Lucknow highway when a UPSRTC bus glided steadily through the darkness. Amid passengers and crew stood a young woman in uniform, confidently checking tickets and guiding travellers. She is Mansi Yadav (22), a bus conductor with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. Her presence on that bus symbolizes more than duty—it is a shining example of how courage and improved law & order are reshaping Uttar Pradesh.

Only a few years ago, the thought of a woman working alone on highways at night would have seemed impossible. Even daytime journeys carried fear. But under the Yogi Adityanath government, strengthened policing and law enforcement have restored confidence. Roads once dreaded after sunset now echo with movement and opportunity. Mansi’s journey embodies this transformation.

Hailing from Unnao, the daughter of a farmer father and homemaker mother, Mansi’s childhood was humble yet filled with determination. “From my school days, I wanted to help my father and support my family. My parents, despite hardships, encouraged me to study and stand on my own feet,” she recalls. Today, her decision to take up a conductor’s role—traditionally dominated by men—has turned her into an inspiration for many.

“Now I feel completely safe,” she says firmly. “When I am in the bus, commuters also feel safe. People respect me, and I am proud to do this work, even at night.”

Her teacher, Anuj Mishra, who watched her grow into this fearless professional, beautifully summed up her spirit in poetry

बड़ी ढीठ है चाहतों की चिरैय्याधरा तक नहींये गगन मांगती है। मिले कभी ना किसी  को  राह चलतेसफलता रिश्रमलगन मांगतीहै।

These lines capture the essence of Mansi’s journey—a restless bird of ambition that does not settle for the ground but demands the sky, moving forward with dedication and perseverance. Mansi Yadav today is more than a conductor; she is a symbol of empowerment and change. Her courage reflects a new Uttar Pradesh, where women can dream bigger, work fearlessly, and inspire others along the way. Indeed, Mansi is not just issuing tickets—she is issuing hope for millions of daughters who wish to soar higher.

“Commenting on the law-and-order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Panchayati Raj, S.P. Singh Baghel, shared a personal experience from his constituency, Agra. He said that while returning late at night from a political function, around 2 a.m., he noticed two young women out on the streets. Concerned, he stopped his car and asked them why they were roaming at such an hour. They replied that they had gone out for coffee. When he asked if they were not afraid, one of them confidently said, ‘CM Baba Ji is there for us.’ Baghel further added that in Uttar Pradesh, one thing no one can doubt is the strength of law and order, especially regarding women’s safety.”
